Korg MS-20
A funky little monophonic synth by Korg that came out in 1978. It features 2 oscillators, a 3 octave keyboard and a patchable front panel that allowed you to determine how the different "modules" of the synth inter-connect (like an Arp 2600 or a modular synth). The MS-20 also features a less aggressive 12dB/octave filter that includes high/low/bandpass filtering and ring modulation. It is currently in vogue as many of todays high profile electronica artists use the MS-20.
Average Advertised Price: $400-$800.
Jetboy's Humble Opinion Of Worth: $650 would be fair. If it wasn't patchable I'd put a lesser value on it.
Jetboy's Review - This is a great synth with alot of punch. One of the better monophonics made and very unique with it's handy patchbay from increased programming flexibility.Joe at Anasazi@Gis.net wonderously writes: I own 2 of these babys. The first one was bought in 1978, the second was bought used in 1985. I had wanted a Minimoog but could not afford one then. These helped feed my passion for fat synth sounds. Both are still going strong today. Never regret buying them.
Jaxx at jaxx@xs4all.nl tells us how the MS20 is the Jaxx-of-all-trades in monophonic sound makers: I bought one of these years ago and connected it trough CV/gate to my older MS10. With the 3VCO sound you can do amazing things! Neither one of them ever broke down, exept that the key-contacts need regularly cleaning. It could be nice to see these in the Nordlead red or Yamaha blue!! :) Its just a fun machine, good to learn synthesis.
